Github cli push12/5/2023 Next time you go on vacation - take a laptop with you - a laptop you don't use in your GitHub business every day. Here's an experiment you could try that may illustrate this point: I would say this to and the other members of the gh CLI team: The missing value that you fail to see in adding commit and push to gh CLI is simply this: authentication. Are you familiar with the term "groupthink"?īut I digress once again. If you accept that as reasoned logic my friend, then I shall worry about you. What?! Seriously?!?! If we don't feel that commit and push adds value to gh CLI, why was it put into GitHub Desktop? And will we now remove it from GitHub Desktop based on that "reasoning". because we do not think gh can right now add any value to the commit operation". dismisses your very logical question by saying ". Now, with some fanfare GitHub produces gh CLI - never explicitly stating in their promotions that it does not commit nor push to a remote. This app both commits and pushes to a remote. And if no one ever communicates a pointed opinion on an idea, how is the originator of that idea ever to see that it is not as perfect as he imagined it? Unlike you, I see plain talk and the expression of opinions as a necessary ingredient for this thing we call progress - to make things better in this case.īut, back to the point at hand: The GitHub organization produced a tool called GitHub Desktop some time ago. Is plain talk used in the expression of an opinion to be labeled "harsh"? I didn't insult anyone I wasn't abusive. I fail to see the basis for your judgment that I've been harsh - even a "little harsh".
